Time Planning

Time management allows us to clear our minds for creative thoughts, allows our brain to function for professional practise before we stress/burnout.

It is possible by:

  • Creating lists - hour, day, week, month, year, life
  • Have to-do's, want to-do's, dreams and goals
  • Know yourself
  • Plan ahead

I have found this article online which also includes a video that helps with time management. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/219553

It differentiates clock time from real time as it says that clock time is exact time (60 seconds in a minute) whilst in real time, time either flies by or drags depending upon what task you are doing therefore time feels different.

The article tells you to take a 30 minute time out in the morning to produce a timetable of your day and do not start your day with one or you may find yourself stressed.

Rob Ryan - YSP Exhibition

I didn't realise that Rob Ryan had an exhibition going on at YSP so during the trip, I was excited to take some pictures of his artwork and I find his artwork very dainty and fragile. I like how they are cut out as it make it stand out more as it looks like it is more detailed and delicate. I studied him for my A-Levels and I had re-created his work before and I found it difficult to hand cut it and not make mistakes. His work seems to be full of emotion and are mostly romantic which I find really sweet.

The John Peel Lecture with Brian Eno

I listened to The John Peel Lecture with Brian Eno where he talks about the meaning of art/creative design. I found the lecture interesting because he said that we need to eat but we don't need to eat luxury foods, we have to wear clothes but we don't have to wear designers. So art can be simple and we do not have to over complicate it. He asked a interesting question which was "is art a luxury?" which it is not as everyone and anyone can be a creative individual and because art can be anything. He said that if you asked 20 scientists what science does, the majority would have the same answer however if you asked 20 artists what art does, there would be 15 different answers because he feels that we are not clear about the subject of creativity. Art is more than what you see because it always have a different meaning behind it so therefore people interpret it in different ways.

I found this lecture very insightful because the questions he poses about art makes you think how we are all creative individuals and how we don't have to be professionals to be an artist. He said that culture is creative arts in which he also said it should not be a luxury but a essential core in our lives which I found very inspiring.

Light Night - Leeds 2015

Light Night is a popular light show/festival event that happens every year in Leeds. It is spread out into 10 different locations in Leeds city centre. Light projection were beamed upon buildings and also in the sky. The locations that I managed to get to were Queens Hotel, Mill Hill Chapel, Millennium Square, First Direct Arena, Parkinson Building and Victoria Quarter.

In the Parkinson Building, they hosted a treasure hunt in which we had to solve puzzles from pieces of information from a book to spell a word to find the location of the hidden treasure. The treasure turned out to be a book from a special collection in which it was the only copy of its kind.

In the Mill Hill Chapel, they used a microscope to project a live micro organism onto the floor (6th picture).

Although I attended the Light Night later on in the evening, I thought the event was very inspiring as every location had its unique show and every part of it had significance to a story. However, I was disappointed that I missed out on some shows in other locations. My favourite was the First Direct Arena because it looked to bright and vivid. The light surrounded the whole stadium and illuminated the area and it looked inspiring.
