Ace & Tate + Anthony Burrill

Ace & Tate is an eyewear brand that sell optical glasses and sunglasses. They believe that you should be able to change your look whenever you want but sometimes glasses can be expensive. Ace & Tate encourages people to have different looks and styles when it comes to their glasses but at a fair and affordable price. They cut out the middle man and their concept is simple where they design the glasses and have them manufactured using high-quality materials. Their in-house design team in Amsterdam is where all their glasses are produced. They believe in very high-quality, high standard, well-made craftsmanship of their glasses and have named Ace & Tate after cellulose acetate in which all the majority of their glasses are formed. They also make sure that their lenses are of hight quality too. Their standard prescription glasses would have anti-reflective, anti-scratch and UV protection coating to protect the quality of the glasses as well as your eyes.

In the Berlin store, Ace & Tate did a collaboration with Anthony Burrill, a UK-based Graphic Designer who specialises and is well-known for his typographic work. The exhibition is to encourage people to switch-off and live in the now. The message is to encourage people to temporarily disconnect from social media and the internet and and be present with your surroundings, reality and society as we all know how distracting technology is. We should be inspired by things in real life than things on the internet.

Anthony Burrill is well-known for letterpress work, he likes how you cannot get print quite like letterpress as it gives it more character and warmth. He tries to avoid using cliché phrases and key the text short as it gives the design more of an impact. Anthony's inspirations come from everyday life, talking to people and his experience and it is why it is important for people to switch-off and live in then now.
